Inhabitants Of The Exclusion Zone (IOEZ) is a geolocation-based, augmented reality #AR experience, looking at an atemporal, digital, territorial occupation & inhabitation, that illustrates and critiques the present through the lens of the future.

-
Throughout history, man has chased dreams of his perfection, transiting from beliefs in immortality to a technologically advanced era.

Immortality for Artificial Intelligence #AI is being human!

IOEZ illustrates the time when advanced Artificial Intelligence is more likely to think it is human. Their understanding of being human comes together with the need for r#creat1on.

-
A series of out of use robots not long ago serving in mining, military, space or just tourism are modelling for the human dream - leisure time and recreation by the Dead Sea. A retirement simulacra in an ecological, political and technological exclusion zone, a landscape ignored for its corrosive qualities.
-

The user journey highlights the robots’ decomposition through accelerated corrosion, while enjoying being human. The corrosive effect of the salty environment slowly deconstructs their ’being’, requiring augmented #AR human intervention to recondition their parts in an augmented maintenance attempt.

Digital maintenance is a primary condition for cohabitation. A collaborative partnership maintaining a historical timeline.

Warning: A high salt density environment can possibly affect the performance and lifetime of your mobile device. IOEZ does not assume any responsibility for any such deteriorations.
